PlayStation Tie Of The Round ft. John Stones

The third TOTR of the season featured an appearance from the Manchester City star John Stones…

Since the launch of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup in 2013, a number of leading professional footballers have supported the competition. Numerous players have visited schools across the country as part of the Tie of the Round events.

On Wednesday 21st November St Matthew’s RC High School pupils were surprised with a visit from a Premier League footballer at the PlayStation TOTR event.

Let the games begin…

To start off the event pupils of the school were given the opportunity to play with each other on PlayStation consoles and challenge each other on games. Students were more than excited to see that this was an addition to their usual school day and quickly got stuck into the activity. The competitive side of students was evident as they strove to become the winners of their games. Around the room, there was endless smiles and laughter from both students and staff. It was clear this experience brought classmates closer together.

Stones Rolls in…

There was an air of great anticipation as students waited patiently for the star to walk in.  Stones’ arrival was met with great enthusiasm, excited students cheered loudly as soon as the Man City and England star stepped into the room.

Game Time

One extremely lucky student challenged John Stones to a FIFA match. Playing FIFA with an actual football player, this would be the ultimate experience for any football or FIFA fan. There was an immense amount of concentration from both players as they quietly paid attention to every move, with hopes of being the victor.

Both audience and FIFA opponents were in the zone and unable to take their eyes off the match. Emotions ran high when there were a few close goals. In the end, it was the pupil that won the match with an impressive 2-0 score.

Although John Stones was defeated, he took his loss well and continued to smile and congratulate his opponent on his success. Don’t worry John, there’s always next time!

Another huge highlight of the day was the U12 friendly match between St Matthews and local school, St Patricks. We will be releasing a match report and photos of this soon, so keep a look out!

Tie of the Round

Playstation Tie of the Round Event ft. Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha made an appearance at Ravenswood school on 8th November…

Fifa Time

The second TOTR of the season was a success. To start the day pupils were allowed to play games on PlayStation consoles with their classmates. Playing video games at school was something that every child in the room was enthusiastic about. The room was filled with passion and excitement as students got invested in their own games and in supporting their friends.

Zaha has Arrived

The football teams at Ravenswood school were treated to a huge surprise as the talented Wilfried Zaha visited their school. There was a huge buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air as the students waited patiently for the player’s arrival.  

 

Q&A Session

The students were offered the opportunity to ask the player questions that they had thought of. With a mixture of humor and wisdom, Zaha answered all of the questions and was  able to provide advice to the aspiring footballers at the school.

‘The best Advice I can give to a player is to just believe in yourself.Obviously you go through patches where people don’t think you’re good , but youve just got to believe in yourself because everyone will not see what you see, so obviously to better yourself you’ve just got to believe in yourself the whole time. “

Fifa + Zaha = Dream come true

Imagine getting the chance to play Fifa at school against an actual footballer who stars in the game. Well, one lucky pupil from Ravenswood school was awarded this chance. Some of this action was displayed live on our Instagram @schoolsfootball . It was a very intense match with added pressure from a group of students spectating, however, Zaha was able to come out on top with a score of 2-0.

He, however, remained very humble in his victory …

 

More Zaha…

It was proved that even in with the far from the usual football boots , Wilfried Zaha is still able to perform brilliantly and score.Here are some shootouts that the primer league player took part in.

Another highlight of the day was the match between Ravens Wood School (Bromley) and Forest School (Horsham).   The Premier league player spent some time with the players and took plenty of photos with them .
