ESFA Trustees

The role of the Trustee

The Trustees have overall responsibility for the ESFA, having the legal responsibilities of charity Trustees as laid down by the Charity Commission. They are the “board” of the Association and are responsible for ensuring that the ESFA fulfills its charitable objectives –

  • that its governance is effective
  • that it is legally compliant
  • that its resources (including staff) are properly managed and
  • that its business plan is delivered.

The Trustees are elected to office either by virtue of holding one of three posts in the Association – the current Chair, the outgoing Chair and the current Vice Chair or by Council electing from within its number 3 other Trustees to complete the complement of 6. Elected Trustees serve for three years prior to standing for re-election.
