U13 PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup for Girls – Joint National Champions Crowned

The Cherwell School and Alder Grange School crowned National Champions in the 2019/20 U13 PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup for Girls competition.

The English Schools’ FA has declared The Cherwell School (Oxford) and Alder Grange School (Rossendale) joint champions of the U13 PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup for Girls for Season 2019-2020.

The decision has been taken after Covid-19 prematurely ended the season and it was established that it would not be feasible for these teams to participate in this year’s National Final match.

Darren Alcock, ESFA National Competitions Manager said “Players and staff at The Cherwell School and Alder Grange School have worked incredibly hard to reach this English Schools’ FA Cup Final.   We are very pleased to have reached a resolution for this final which recognises the effort, skill and determination of those involved with both teams.   To be crowned a National Champion is an extremely prestigious honour, so we hope that the players, staff and school communities will enjoy this accolade and we wish the players well in their future football endeavours.”

Mr Spencer Bibby, Alder Grange Team Manager said “We are extremely proud of our girls success in this competition! To have reached last year’s semi-final the girls were very motivated to go one further this time and they did that! Throughout the tournament they have played some exciting football, scoring lots of goals, whilst at the same time only conceding two goals all tournament.  This is the first ever time Alder Grange have reached a National final so the whole school joins us in celebrating this success. We are also excited to start this year’s tournament and hope to emulate our achievements so far.
