Rewarding our Volunteers

Reward & Recognition Awards 2023 – Roundup

The ESFA was delighted to launch its inaugural Reward & Recognition Awards for the 2022/23 season, with 7 awards up for grabs for schools and Associations alike.

This new campaign has seen the Association, as the National Governing Body for Schools’ Football, reach out to the army of volunteers that continue to dedicate their time to provide opportunities for school pupils across England to participate in local schools’ football activity – whatever that may be.

After consulting with Membership and the ESFA Council, the Association created four awards for Association Members and three for schools, to recognise the work carried out by individuals across the country and then to reward them for their continued efforts.

The number of nominations and votes that were received across the campaign were much higher than expected, showing that the R&R campaign is a well-received and necessary addition to the ESFA’s calendar. Over 40,000 votes were registered across the categories, with the webpages receiving unprecedented levels of visitors.

The 2023 Winners

Both the quality and quantity of nominations received across all categories of award has provided the ESFA with a huge amount of content to recognise volunteering achievements throughout England. There has been some incredible and commendable work demonstrated by amazing schools’ football volunteers throughout the 2022/23 season and beyond.

Growing the Campaign

The ESFA is delighted to confirm that the R&R Awards will be returning for the 2023/24 season, allowing the Association to discover and celebrate even more volunteers and participants within schools’ football for the coming season. Ensuring the ESFA recognises and highlights the importance of volunteering is high on the agenda for the Association and it is keen to continue to grow this campaign and the praise that comes with it.

ESFA kicks off Reward & Recognition campaign with gift vouchers for volunteers

At the start of the season, the ESFA launched a new Reward & Recognition campaign, which will see the Association, as the National Governing Body for Schools’ Football, reach out to and reward the army of volunteers that continue to dedicate their time to schools’ football.

The first part of this campaign has seen the ESFA push its lines of communications further into the schools’ football volunteer workforce, with a view to creating new connections and utilising these to help shape the new awards campaign.

All volunteers that registered in this first phase of the campaign were entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Pro:Direct voucher. The ESFA made 10 vouchers available across the ESFA’s four geographical regions (North, Midlands, South East & South West). The ESFA has now selected its lucky winners –

The ESFA will now move into a consultation period with its volunteers to help devise a well structured and appropriately positioned plan for the ESFA Reward & Recognition Awards, details of which will be shared in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, volunteers who haven’t already registered as part of the new Reward and Recognition scheme can still do so, via the link below:
