The ESFA is delighted to be launching its second ever Reward and Recognition Awards this 2023/24 season. There are eight awards up for grabs, 4 dedicated to work carried out within ESFA District and County Associations, 3 dedicated to the achievements of teachers and players within schools and the ‘Special Recognition Award’, which will be awarded to those volunteers that have done something fantastic that doesn’t quite fit into our other categories.
Association Awards
Nominations are open from Monday 18 March until Sunday 31 March 2024. Nominations for Association awards cannot be accepted from the general public, for a nomination to be accepted, it must be submitted by an Association member (volunteer, Secretary, Chair etc.) or a member of the ESFA Council.
The award categories for nominations are –
- Award for voluntary dedication to schools’ football
- Association success story award
- Association young volunteer award
- Award for Match Official service to schools’ football

School Awards
Nominations for school awards are open from Monday 18 March until Sunday 31 March 2024. Nominations for school awards can be submitted by any member of the public, whereby they know of a teacher or player who deserves recognition regarding their services to schools’ football.
The award categories for nominations are –
- Award for teacher dedication to schools’ football
- Award for pupil development through schools’ football (primary age)
- Award for pupil development through schools’ football (secondary age)

And the winner is…
Award nominations will be considered by the ESFA and the shortlisted nominees will be informed of their success and given special recognition via the ESFA’s online channels. Voting will then open and will be shared online. Voting will open in April.
Four shortlisted nominees from each of the Association categories and the teacher dedication award will be invited to the ESFA’s Reward & Recognition Awards event, to be held on Saturday 15 June 2024 at Villa Park. During this celebratory event, the winners of each category will be announced and be presented with their award. Association winners and the winner of the Teacher Dedication Award will receive glass awards and £250 to spend however they choose. The event will also see the England U15 Schoolgirls and U18 Schoolboys receiving their international caps and will also celebrate some of the ESFA’s Long Service Award winners’ achievements.
The winners of the pupil development awards will be announced separately and the ESFA will arrange a prize-giving at school for the winning pupils. Pupil winners will receive a glass award, a £100 Amazon voucher and £150 worth of football goodies.
Reward & Recognition
It is the ESFA’s aim to continue to recognise and reward volunteers in a new way. The ongoing growth and success of Schools’ Football is down to the dedication and hard work of an army of volunteers across England. We hope that the ESFA’s R&R Awards campaign will celebrate those who are already doing so much and also inspire others to get involved in their own area.
