The ESFA is delighted to announce the successful trialists from the initial stage of the England U15 Schoolgirls’ trial process. These girls will now progress to stage two, representing their region with the aim of reaching the final trial in December.

The ESFA hosted stage one of the U15 Schoolgirls’ Pro:Direct trials on Sunday 9 October, with events taking place in the North, Midlands, South East and South West of the country. From each trial, a squad of successful girls has been selected to go forward and represent their region in stage two of the trials process.

The successful girls from the weekend’s events will go forward to create the North, Midlands, South East and South West squads, with the North v South and South East v South West matches making up the second phase of the Pro:Direct Trials process.

The National Governing Body for Schools’ Football in England.

Another positive result for the England Schoolgirl squad as they twice came from a goal behind to draw 2-2 against Feyenoord Women on Tuesday night.

In a very competitive fixture it was the hosts who took a first half lead before Leoni Telford’s fantastic long range free-kick tied the game up.

Once again the wind was having an effect on the proceedings which gave the England girls an additional test with the wind in their faces in the second half against a much more physical side than they had faced in their opening fixture.

It was the home side who edged back ahead, a 25 yard free kick hitting the crossbar before the rebound was scrambled home from close range.

Not to be deterred, the girls fought back and looked dangerous on a number of occasions with Macey Bannerman-Lloyd seeing a volley saved by the home keeper and Poppy Pritchard having a goal ruled out for handball in the build up.

Pritchard was not to be denied late on though, a short corner saw her fire an unstoppable right foot shot into the top corner giving the keeper and the defender on the post no chance to prevent the equaliser.

England went in search of a winner but Megan Sofield was closed down on the edge of the box just when it looked like she had created space for a clear shot on goal and they were grateful to Sophia Poor for a last second save to deny the hosts.

Overall their unbeaten record in their two tour games will set the girls up for their next match, a tough test away to the Republic of Ireland in the John Read Trophy next month before the start of the Bob Docherty Cup in April.
