ESFA and UCFB continue partnership for the 23/24 season

The English Schools’ FA (ESFA) is delighted to announce that it has extended its partnership with the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) to continue being the Associations’ official Higher Education partner until 2025.

The partnership, which began in 2018, has shared communications to numerous schools and students on the many benefits of studying at UCFB and the opportunities available to young people to go on to work within the sports industry.

The”¯University Campus of Football Business (UCFB)”¯is a world first in higher education, offering undergraduate university degrees in the football and sports industry. Offering degrees in football coaching & analysis, football business, sport psychology, media and broadcasting, sports coaching science, marketing, finance and more, UCFB is a leading destination for education in the football and sports industry. Located at their campuses in London, which has the iconic Wembley Stadium at its heart, and their Manchester campus, students are embedded in the football and sports industry. UCFB’s innovative football and sports programmes are tailor-made to give students and industry professionals alike the best possible chance of a successful career in their chosen sector.

Throughout the long-standing partnership, there has been highlights such as football matches between the England U18 Schoolboys’ and UCFB, as well as educational talks with students at several ESFA events and interview technique masterclasses with ESFA CEO, Andrea Chilton. UCFB have also made a substantial contribution to the ESFA’s Schools’ Football Week campaign offering free careers sessions to participating schools and providing classroom materials for teachers to use in their football-themed lessons.

For the 2023/24 season, the ESFA and UCFB have teamed up to create the ESFA Bursary, a brilliant opportunity for one aspirational student to work closely with the team at the ESFA gaining some industry experience whilst receiving a top-class education at UCFB. Stay tuned for more information on this in the coming months.

ESFA Chair Marvin Robinson said: “Get ready for a season of incredible possibilities as we embark on a joint mission with UCFB in 2023/24. Our shared goal of using football as a platform for personal growth, educational excellence, and career advancement makes this partnership truly exhilarating. Together, we’re set to enhance our services for the benefit of our players, students, and the entire football community.”

Sharona Friedman, President of UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport, added: “Over the past few years, a number of our students have gained great insight and had positive experiences working alongside the ESFA. We’re naturally delighted that this work will continue over the next couple of years and I look forward to both organisations benefitting from each other’s expertise.”

To kick off the 23/24 schools’ football season, UCFB would like to find out how they can support schools and colleges around the country and open access to their in-house expertise and network in the football and sports industry.

ESFA launches Hotshots 2023/24- The ESFA’s Intra-School Campaign

ESFA Hotshots Intra-School Football Campaign is back for 2023-24 and taking part could result in your school winning up to £1500! Register your school’s interest by filling out our simple registration form.

Hotshots is all about intra-school football. The project’s aim is to get as many young people as possible playing schools’ football and to build on the success of the campaign since its conception in 2021, which has seen over 80,000 young people taking part so far.

The ESFA is able to incentivise this activity, so that each school that signs up and organises intra-school football during the 23/24 school year will be entered into a prize draw, with the possibility of winning a £1,500 cash prize in their relevant category.

We know that thousands of schools across England are already running intra-school football, whether this inter house football or a kickabout on the field at lunchtime, you can submit this activity as part of the ESFA Hotshots campaign. The beauty of this campaign is that most schools are already running this activity as a part of the every day school day – and now they can be rewarded for doing just that!

The ESFA has put together a short guide for schools, providing some helpful information on how to plan intra-school football activity – whether it’s playing on a playground, on a field with jumpers for goal posts, or a 3G pitch. The guide also highlights how the prize draw will work and will provide a date structure for schools to plan activity around. You can download this below:

Resources

The ESFA has created a Hotshots certificate to reward individual participation, as well as a suite of social media assets which schools can download and share across their own channels.

All ESFA assets, including terms & conditions for the prize draws are available on the dedicated Hotshots webpage.

The ESFA is keen to track the Hotshots progress across England via social media and will be encouraging schools to post about their activity, tagging @schoolsfootball on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and using the hashtag #ESFAHotshots

Good luck to all the schools and pupils taking part in this season’s Hotshots activity
