Let’s Celebrate the Return of Schools’ Football  

The English Schools’ Football Association is delighted to announce the return of Schools’ Football Week, in association with Haier, from 7^th – 13^th February 2022!

Schools’ Football Week (SFW), in association with Haier, is an  ongoing  ESFA initiative designed as an opportunity for schools, teams and clubs from across the country to embrace schools’ football and the wellbeing  benefits it provides to pupils and players.  It celebrates  the importance of schools’ football, competitive or otherwise, to pupils across England  and provides teachers and coaches with  tools and a motivation to further discuss the benefits of schools’ football  within their educational environment.    

The  focus  for Schools’ Football Week 2021  was  to provide an opportunity for children to get outside, have fun and enjoy being able to play sport with their school friends, competitively or otherwise, after so much time spent in lockdown.  The ESFA is sticking to these principles  for 2022, but  with the schools’ football season in full swing  for 21/22,  the ESFA has received  a record  number of girls’ team entries  and, along with the Women’s EUROs  taking place in 2022,  SFW presents the perfect opportunity to highlight and celebrate girls’ football too!

Schools’ Football Week 2021, saw the Association reach new levels of participation

• Over 100,000 pupils took part in SFW activity
• Over 8,500 teams were involved in SFW
• Over 500 schools registered for events
• The campaign was backed by DCMS in 2020 & 2021

The campaign will officially launch next Tuesday 30 November. The ESFA will be asking schools, Associations and clubs to register activity, allowing the campaign to celebrate participation numbers from across England. The registration link will be live Tuesday, with the ESFA sharing further information on the campaign then.
