ESFA Introduce U18 Super League as National Cup Competition

ESFA National Competitions are open for 2019/20 with a shake up to the U18 competition format

The ESFA’s National Competitions Department has launched a brand new competition format for the U18 age group for 2019-20 – introducing the ESFA U18 Super League!

Two ESFA U18 Super League competitions will run from September, one for girls and one for boys across the Year 11 – 13 age groups. The competition is designed for schools and colleges which offer a football academy or development programme at sixth form level – in addition the competition is also open to private providers who also offer a similar sixth form-age football programme. We hope that this change will take the level of elite footballing skill we already see throughout the ESFA U18 National Cup programmes to an even higher benchmark.

The competitions, which are based on the Champions League format, will begin with a group phase made up of 4 or 5 teams per group. Each of the teams will play all of the other teams in their group once by Christmas. The winners of the group phase will then qualify to compete in the knockout phase which will begin after the Christmas holidays.

Entry deadline is approaching…

Entries will close on Friday 19 July – if you would like to register to enter this competition, simply email [email protected] and the team will set you up on the system ahead of the new season. Don’t miss out – make sure your team is a part of something new!
