ESFA Deaf Schools’ Finals 2022 – Tuesday 8 February 2022
On Tuesday 8 February, the ESFA will be hosting the annual Deaf Schools’ Finals at the Derby Soccerdome. We have been working with Louise White from The Royal School for the Deaf in Derby to find out more about the upcoming event –
We asked: Can you explain how the Deaf Schools’ Tournament works and the age of the pupils that take part?
The secondary school event will feature pupils from years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. The competition has been running for over 30 years and the ESFA has helped to support and develop the competition over more recent years!
We asked: How does playing Schools’ Football benefit the players from your school and how important is it to have these opportunities?
The Deaf Schools’ Competition is an opportunity for players to meet friends that otherwise they would not usually see. These events are well attended each year and provides the chance for pupils to play sport with other deaf pupils from different areas.
We asked: How will talking about the competition during Schools’ Football Week have a positive impact?
By talking about the Deaf Schools’ Finals during Schools’ Football Week, it may encourage other Deaf Schools, or schools with Hearing Impaired Units to take part in future years!
The ESFA is delighted to be able to continue to support the Deaf Schools’ Finals – keep an eye on our social media channels on Tuesday 8 February for some updates from the event. Further information and a tournament roundup will also be posted on our website later during Schools’ Football Week.
If you, or your school would like to take part in future Deaf Schools’ competitions, please contact the ESFA National Competitions Department to be put in touch with Louise White from RSDD.
