This week we take a relatively short trip of just 8 days into the archives for a long awaited semi final in the Boys Under 18 Super League – albeit well over a year since the competition kicked off!

There is a certain amount of irony that the ESFA’s youngest competition, the U18 Super League that made its debut in 2019-2020, should offer us the longest running competition to date, with the first fixtures having taken place a whopping 581 days before this semi final tie.

Hosted in the Midlands at Quorn FC’s Farley Way Stadium, it was an end-to-end tie, played out on the 3G surface with few clear cut chances to worry the keepers in either goal. After 45 minutes, the sides went into the break deadlocked at 0-0, despite plenty of quality clearly on show.

The second half saw Park View eventually get on top, although clear chances were again at a premium, until goals from Ben Ramsey, Shaun Dippenaar, Liam Paul and Micky Spellman put the North East side through to the final.

It was a harsh scoreline on Millfield over the 90 minutes, with the game very much looking like extra-time would be needed to separate the sides, but their late flurry of goals will see Park View travel to the National Final in May to battle John Madejski Academy…where time will only tell who will be crowned the inaugural Super League champions.

Keep an eye on the ESFA social media channels and website for further information about the upcoming National Final.
